Support Our Furloughed Employees: Send a Paper Plate Message to Trump

"Protesters began by standing in silence for 33 minutes — one for each day of the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.
Inside the Hart Senate Office Building, where protest signs are banned, workers instead wrote messages on Styrofoam plates.
“Jobs not walls,” read one.
“Will work for pay,” read another.
“Please let us work,” said several more.
As they held the empty plates in their hands, several furloughed workers said they were reminded of how drastically their circumstances had changed since the shutdown began Dec. 22." -Washington Post
These furloughed workers came up with a genius idea: send the President a paper plate with a message to end the government shutdown now. After all, didn't the President tweet to his crazy constituency to send bricks to Pelosi? If the President got enough paper plates, this would be a concrete indication of just how much all of us want this ill-conceived hostage taking of the American public to end.

To send your paper plate, address it to:

Covington Cath Teens: Defending Racism as School Spirit

"Covington Catholic High School’s increasing notoriety has only pushed it further into the mud. As students tag-teamed their way through the morning shows Wednesday, one student found himself defending blackface as “showing school spirit” on Fox & Friends." -Fox News
Covington Catholic basketball game replete with blackface.
Too bad Covington Catholic High School is devoid of history teachers.

When is a Government Shutdown Really a Strike?

"As the partial government shutdown grinds into its third week, multiple news outlets have reported that behind closed doors President Donald Trump prefers to call what’s happening a “strike.”-the Huffington Post

When is a government shutdown really a strike?
When unpaid federal furloughed employees who are mandated to work call in sick, protest working without pay, and/or revolt by refusing to work. This is known as a strike.

Happy New Year Furloughed Federal Employees

Memo
To: All Furloughed Federal Employees
From:  The Office of Personnel Management (OPM)
RE: Sample Letter Furloughed Employees May Submit to Their Creditors

The sample letter below has been released by the OPM:

"Dear (Name of Company or individual with whom you have spoken)
This is to confirm our conversation of (date) in which we discussed a temporary reduction in my monthly payment.
As we discussed, I am a Federal employee who has recently been furloughed due to a lack of funding of my agency.  Because of this, my income has been severely cut and I am unable to pay the entire cost of my monthly payments, along with my other expenses.
As we had agreed in our conversation, I will be able to make regular payments in the amount of $_______.  I realize that I will be responsible to pay the remainder of the payments and, when I return to work, I will contact you immediately to work out a plan to take care of the reduced payments.  I will also keep in touch with you to keep you informed about my income status.
I appreciate your willingness to work with me and your understanding during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
(Name)"

The above missive was penned by an obtuse Trump government official thinking furloughed employees would actually garner sympathy from their debtors. I think the one below is more fitting.

Dear (Name of Creditor with whom you told you are broke due to a forced layoff of indeterminate length),

On (date) I begged, pleaded, and tried to reason with you that I am unable to make any payments due to being held hostage by a megalomaniac president who wants 5 billion for a wall he promised Mexico would pay for. Because he is solely responsible for me not paying my bills in a timely fashion, I am SOL. Given the fact that he gave you a big tax cut, I am hoping you can cut me some slack and allow me time to figure out how I am going to pay the necessities of life until Fox News tells him how to resolve this. Until then, know that my income status is destitute.

I appreciate your willingness to give me a break and not cast me (and my family) out on the winter streets.

I leave you with this hopeful tweet from our president:

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE, INCLUDING THE HATERS AND THE FAKE NEWS MEDIA! 2019 WILL BE A FANTASTIC YEAR FOR THOSE NOT SUFFERING FROM TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME. JUST CALM DOWN AND ENJOY THE RIDE, GREAT THINGS ARE HAPPENING FOR OUR COUNTRY!

Sincerely,
Your Fiscally-Impaired Furloughed Federal Employee
